OSF HealthCare Saint Katharine Medical Center is proud to recognize two Mission Partners whose exceptional compassion and commitment to patient-centered care recently earned special recognition.
Nicole Wyatt, RN, of Cardiac Catheterization Services, was named the hospital's Fourth Quarter DAISY Award recipient, honoring extraordinary nursing care.
Meghan Borell, PCT, of Behavioral Health, received the Sunflower Award, which recognizes non-nursing team members who make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families.
Nicole was nominated by a patient who credited the cardiac catheterization team with saving their life during a medical emergency. In the nomination, the patient shared that they initially did not realize the severity of their condition.
"Her compassionate care, calm presence, constant reassurance and sense of humor throughout the entire process meant the entire world to me during such a frightening time," the patient wrote. "Nicole truly went above and beyond, and I will always remember her kindness and professionalism."
Meghan Borell was nominated after a Behavioral Health patient shared how her kindness and encouragement helped them through a difficult period of depression and frustration.
According to the nomination, Meghan greeted the patient each day with a smile, checked in regularly to ensure their needs were met, helped them establish healthy daily routines and provided encouragement.
"Meghan's presence made them feel cared for and safe during the hardest mornings of their life," the nominator wrote.
Together, Nicole and Meghan represent the compassionate spirit that guides care at OSF Saint Katharine and the positive impact Mission Partners make every day in the lives of patients.
