OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center is proud to recognize Jolene Hancock, a physical therapist and regional supervisor at the OSF Center for Health in Streator, as a recipient of the Sunflower Award.
Jolene has been a Mission Partner for 28 years and serves as a regional supervisor while continuing to provide direct patient care. She is known for delivering compassionate, respectful care and helping patients overcome challenges during some of the most difficult moments in their recovery journeys.
Jolene was nominated by a grateful patient who credited her with helping rebuild both physical strength and confidence following a serious automobile accident that resulted in a spinal fracture. The patient shared that while recovering from months of pain and limited mobility, Jolene recognized that healing involved more than physical rehabilitation. Through her expertise, patience and encouragement, she helped the patient overcome fear of reinjury, regain trust in their body and return to everyday activities with confidence.
"I needed more than physical therapy. I needed someone who could help me believe in myself again," the patient wrote. "Her skill, professionalism and commitment to her patients reflect the very best of health care."
