OSF HealthCare Saint Katharine Medical Center is pleased to welcome Firas Darwiche, MD, to OSF Saint Katharine Center for Health in Amboy, where he will begin seeing patients on August 10. He joins a care team that includes Emilee Bocker, MD, Lee Murrin, APRN, and Stephanie Amor-Arteaga, APRN.
Dr. Darwiche was drawn to medicine by a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives while pursuing his passion for science.
“I wanted to do something that would have a positive impact on people’s lives,” Dr. Darwiche said. “I loved the science of anatomy and wanted a career where I could use that knowledge while playing an active role in helping people lead healthy lifestyles.”
As a family medicine physician, Dr. Darwiche enjoys caring for patients of all ages and helping them navigate a wide range of health concerns throughout every stage of life.
“One of the things I enjoy most about family medicine is the breadth of the specialty and the opportunity to care for patients across all stages of life,” Dr. Darwiche said. “While I value every aspect of primary care, I have particular interests in cardiovascular disease prevention and management, kidney disease, pulmonary medicine, infectious diseases and hospital medicine. I also enjoy caring for pediatric patients and helping families build healthy habits from an early age.”
Dr. Darwiche earned his medical degree from Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada. He recently completed his residency at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine in Rockford.
Outside of work, Dr. Darwiche enjoys running, dancing, playing basketball, reading and spending time with family, especially over a board game.
