The DAISY Award is a prestigious recognition given to nurses who go above and beyond in delivering exceptional care, compassion, and clinical skill. Created by the DAISY Foundation, the award honors nurses who make a profound difference in the lives of patients and their families—often in ways that extend far beyond the walls of a hospital.

This quarter, we are proud to recognize Kaitlynn Pfeiffer, RN, as our DAISY Award recipient. Kaitlynn's nomination, submitted by OSF Mission Partner Karen Jacinto Key, highlights a moment that took place not in a hospital, but at a baseball field. Kaitlynn was attending her younger brother's out-of-town game when a medical emergency unfolded: the mother of one of the young players suddenly collapsed. Without hesitation, Kaitlynn sprang into action.

Alongside another nurse and a physician who happened to be present, Kaitlynn helped administer CPR and provided care for over 20 minutes until EMS arrived. Thanks to her quick thinking, calm under pressure, and unwavering commitment to helping others, the woman survived and was able to return home to her husband, children, and loved ones.

Kaitlynn's bravery and compassion—whether in the hospital or out in the community—are a testament to her character and her calling as a nurse. She not only runs toward emergencies but also lifts up her fellow nurses with a helping hand and a generous heart.
