OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center is pleased to announce that Brittany Lewis, RN, an emergency department nurse, has been honored with the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. The international DAISY Award program recognizes nurses who provide exceptional clinical care and demonstrate extraordinary compassion for patients and their families.
Brittany, who joined OSF HealthCare in November 2022, serves patients in the emergency department with skill, compassion, and calm reassurance.
Her nomination came from a patient who shared how Brittany’s care transformed a frightening emergency room visit into one filled with comfort and reassurance:
“One morning, I woke up with unexpected and scary health issues. By the time I reached the emergency room at OSF Saint Elizabeth, I was in a state of shock. From the moment Brittany entered my room, it felt as though she had been waiting just for me. She was calm, kind and reassuring—explaining everything, bringing warm blankets and drinks, and keeping me distracted with easy conversation. She truly made me feel like a VIP during one of the most stressful times of my life. Even after I was moved to the next step in my care, Brittany stopped back to check on me. She went above and beyond to make sure I felt cared for.”
Jodie Borchelt, vice president of Nursing Operations, expressed her gratitude: “The DAISY Award is a powerful way to celebrate nurses like Brittany, who combine skill and compassion to make a lasting impact on their patients. We are proud to honor her with this recognition.”
The DAISY Award program is present in more than 2,000 healthcare facilities across all 50 states and 14 other countries. OSF HealthCare encourages patients, family members, and staff to recognize caregivers who have provided exceptional care by nominating them for this prestigious honor.
