OSF HealthCare is pleased to announce that Mia Orozco, an athletic trainer serving student-athletes at Mendota High School, has been recognized with the Sunflower Award.
The Sunflower Award celebrates Mission Partners outside of nursing who consistently demonstrate extraordinary dedication and compassion in caring for those they serve.
Mia was nominated by the parent of a student-athlete who expressed gratitude for her expertise, encouragement, and commitment:
"Although Mia and I have not met personally, I’ve come to know her through the consistent praise from my daughter, a multi-sport athlete at Mendota. This spring has been especially challenging with ongoing back and shoulder discomfort, but Mia has been a steady, supportive presence throughout. My daughter often shares how Mia listens without judgment, provides effective stretches and tips, and creates an environment of trust where she feels comfortable and supported. Because of Mia’s care, she has been able to continue playing both school softball and travel volleyball this season without major injury or missing games. More than physical support, Mia has made a meaningful impact on her experience as a student-athlete. We are deeply grateful for her compassion, professionalism, and the difference she makes every day.”
“Mia truly lives the OSF Mission through her dedication to the athletes she serves,” said Heather Bomstad, president of OSF Saint Paul Medical Center. “She has built trusted relationships, helped students overcome challenges, and empowered them to thrive both on and off the field. We are proud to honor her with the Sunflower Award.”
OSF HealthCare encourages patients, families, and fellow Mission Partners to recognize exceptional caregivers by submitting nominations for the DAISY and Sunflower Awards. These programs highlight the extraordinary efforts of Mission Partners who exemplify OSF values in their daily work.
