In honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center will host a Blessing of the Pets on Wednesday, October 8, at 12:30 p.m. in front of the hospital.
The Henry County Humane Society will also be onsite with adoptable animals 11 a.m.-1 p.m., giving visitors the opportunity to meet pets looking for loving homes and to learn more about the Humane Society.
The Feast of St. Francis is an important celebration for OSF HealthCare. St. Francis had a deep devotion to serving the sick and poor, seeing in them the face of Jesus in our world. Our Mission calls us to “serve persons with the greatest care and love,” following the example of Francis of Assisi.
A special tradition on this feast day is the blessing of pets and animals, honoring St. Francis’ love and care for all of God’s creation.
The event is free and open to the public. All pets are welcome—please leash or kennel animals for safety.
