OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center is hosting a robot naming competition beginning October 16, 2025. This fun event comes as a result of the medical center’s commitment to providing cutting-edge technology to serve our patients and communities.
“At OSF Saint Anthony we are always looking at ways to best serve our patients and one of those is through state-of-the-art robotic technology,” says Sharon Bagalio, director of Surgical Services at OSF Saint Anthony. “A majority of our surgeons across multiple specialties are trained on various robotic consoles, which ultimately leads to faster recoveries and better outcomes for our patients. We have some exciting robotic expansions coming up that we are thrilled to offer to our surgeons and ultimately our communities.”
OSF Saint Anthony’s dedication to patient safety has been recognized with the Healthgrades 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award making OSF Saint Anthony one of the top medical centers in the nation for providing excellence in patient safety by preventing infections, medical errors and other preventable complications. The medical center’s dedication to robotic surgery has been highlighted in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-2026 Best Hospitals edition ranking OSF Saint Anthony as a High Performing hospital for stroke, pacemaker implantation and knee replacement – the highest distinction a hospital can receive.
To kick off the robotic expansions, there will be a robot naming contest for the newest autonomous cleaning robot. This robot can scrub, clean and dry floors all in one pass while using sensors to map out cleaning paths and any obstacles. It also talks. To enter the naming contest, please follow these instructions:
- Email SAMCMarketing@osfhealthcare.org with your name, email address and submission by October 22.
- Please keep in mind that the robot’s voice is female and we ask that you submit work-appropriate names.
- A final vote of the top 5 will take place October 23 – October 29 on the OSF Saint Anthony Facebook page. Visit the Facebook page to cast your vote.
- The winner will be announced and contacted on October 30, and they will receive an OSF gift basket.
