OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center is proud to announce Tricia Hammer, RN, as the latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The DAISY Award is an international program that honors the skillful and compassionate care nurses provide every day.
Tricia, who has been with OSF HealthCare for over six and a half years, is a clinical resource nurse, traveling from her home in Sterling to provide support at multiple OSF facilities throughout the region.
Heather Bomstad, vice president and chief nursing officer for OSF Saint Elizabeth, shared her appreciation for nurses like Tricia. "We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and compassion our nurses show every day. The DAISY Award allows us to highlight individuals like Tricia who go above and beyond for our patients and their families."
Tricia's nomination came from a patient's family member who spent time in the hospital. The nominator praised Tricia's attentive, hands-on care:
"During my mother's stay, there were many helpful staff members, but one nurse continually stood out, Tricia Hammer. She quickly addressed my mom's worsening discomfort, took time to organize her personal belongings to help her feel more settled, and always treated her with kindness and respect. Tricia not only advocated for my mom's medical needs but also ensured my family was informed and supported. She even called the doctor so we could all discuss the care plan together. Her compassion and attention to detail made all the difference in a very difficult time. We could truly see God's love and comfort shining through her."
The DAISY Award program is present in more than 2,000 healthcare facilities across all 50 states and 14 other countries. OSF HealthCare encourages patients, family members, and staff to recognize caregivers who have provided exceptional care by nominating them for this prestigious honor.
