Congratulations to Dr. Natalie Magda, podiatry resident, for earning second place in the Case Report category at the OSF Research Symposium on May 22nd. Her case study, “Novel fixation technique for hallux interphalangeal arthrodesis using a 7-0 intramedullary screw: A case series," highlighted an innovative surgical approach. Fellow resident, Dr. Cara Fontana played a key role in this accomplishment by helping design and create the research poster.

Overall, the symposium was a rewarding experience for the OSF Saint Katharine podiatry residents, who had all six of their submitted posters accepted for presentation. It was a proud moment to share their research and clinical experiences with mission partners across OSF sites.

Special thanks go to Dr. Nathan Mauren, research director, and Dr. Brandon Gumbiner, residency director, for their ongoing support and mentorship.
