OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center is proud to announce that Janette Hernandez-Flores, a Peru patient care technician on the medical-surgical unit, has been recognized with the Sunflower Award. Janette has been a valued member of the OSF HealthCare team, providing compassionate care to patients and families every day.
The Sunflower Award honors Mission Partners outside of nursing who exemplify exceptional service and heartfelt commitment to those they serve.
Janette was nominated by a patient who shared the meaningful difference she made during a challenging time:
“I am not always the nicest, and I know it. I’m in and out of the hospital often, and it turns me into a mean and depressed person sometimes. But no matter my attitude, Janette always attended to me with a smile that, by the end of the day, I couldn’t help but smile back. I haven’t felt so seen and appreciated in so long. I needed her happiness and kindness. She was amazing and I even forgot how upset I was about my condition.”
