Sharon Mercer is a champion for Almost Home Kids and for Healthcare Workers in general! From volunteering with the children to decorating the house each month and providing encouragement to staff through home-cooked meals and delicious treats, Sharon goes above and beyond!
Volunteering at AHK since April of 2019, she served more than 72 hours with the children and countless hours at home planning, preparing food, creating crafts and activities, and sewing clothing and bibs for the children to make them more comfortable. Sharon identifies a need and looks for a way she can meet that need.
Sharon makes a difference in the lives of children through selfless service. She is dedicated, hardworking, innovative, tireless, and an excellent example of what it looks like to serve others with the greatest care and love.
Jim Kamp, Mr. Jim, does not like the spotlight, but loves to shine the light on the children at Almost Home Kids to identify what they need to develop and grow. Some days he brings a new toy to see if it will peak the children’s interest. He is always enthusiastic and focused on the needs of the children and AHK as a whole.
Spreading sunshine and having fun is an excellent way to describe Jim. It is rare to meet a person who is so selfless and devoted, and we are grateful to have him on our team.
In the last 18 months, Jim has spent 124 hours playing with the children! Mostly, I think he wants to have fun and let the kids just be kids! He brings energy and passion to volunteer work. He is a remarkable volunteer making a significant difference in the lives of the children at Almost Home Kids.
