OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center in partnership with University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) is proud to announce 24/7 neurosurgery support at OSF Saint Anthony beginning July 1.
The addition of neurosurgeons Dr. Mark Chwajol and Dr. Brandyn Castro of UI Health will allow OSF Saint Anthony to have around the clock neurosurgery services available for patients in need in our community.
“At OSF our Mission is to serve with the greatest care and love, so having these types of services available at all times to our patients in need of neurosurgery services is a must,” said Paula Carynski, president of OSF Saint Anthony. “We are excited to partner with UI Health to bring the talents of Dr. Chwajol and Dr. Castro to our patients.”
“Dr. Chwajol and Dr. Castro will be able to perform surgeries to treat conditions and diseases of the brain and spine,” said Sue Fischer, vice president of ambulatory and procedural services at OSF Saint Anthony. “These additions to our neurosurgery services as a level-1 trauma center will benefit so many patients in our community and ultimately save lives.”
“We are excited to partner with OSF Saint Anthony to deliver world-class neurosurgical care to patients in the Rockford community,” said Dr. Fady Charbel, head of the Department of Neurosurgery at UI Health. “Time is especially important when it comes to injuries of the brain and spine. Being able to receive expert care closer to home will help to improve the outcomes for the most critical patients. We are proud to be bringing this expertise to more patients throughout Illinois.”
