As a partner in the international DAISY Award program that recognizes the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care of nurses, OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center recently awarded its DAISY award to Martha Miller, RN.
Martha is a registered nurse who serves as an oncology nurse navigator in the Community Health Services Department. She has been a Mission Partner for over 18 years.
"We truly appreciate the compassionate care that RNs perform every day. The DAISY Award is one way to recognize these dedicated individuals," said Heather Bomstad, vice president and chief nursing officer for OSF Saint Paul.
Martha's nomination included, "Martha Miller, Dr. Sreeni's nurse is so incredible. She cares so deeply and is so helpful to her patients. She's got so much love in her heart and it shows. Even after you've been to the doctor, she calls you the next day and asks how you're feeling and if she can do anything for you. She's an angel sent from heaven to care for all her patients. She treats everyone like they're part of her family. She's an excellent nurse!"
The DAISY Award program can be found in over 2,000 healthcare facilities in all 50 states and 14 other countries.
The Sunflower Award, a recognition program offered to non-nursing staff with OSF HealthCare, was given to Tami Fagerman, a phlebotomist and a Mission Partner for almost 15 years.
Fagerman's nomination stated, "I would like to kindly thank Tami Fagerman for her kind help with my father this a.m., as I was struggling with the wheelchair, the walker, and my purse. She kindly took the time and wheeled my father directly to Community Health Services department. What a wonderful and great help she was! Thank you so much, Tami!"
