OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center is pleased to recognize the 2022 Sunflower Award Winner, Aundra Pacheco of Galva. Aundra is a patient access associate at OSF Saint Luke. Aundra was nominated for the Sunflower Award by a fellow Mission Partner who witnessed her going above and beyond for a patient in need.
An elderly patient who lives alone was being admitted to the hospital. The patient was apprehensive because nobody would be able to take care of her cat that requires insulin. During registration, Aundra realized she lived near the patient and offered to care for the patient's cat so the patient could focus on getting well.
“The Sunflower Award recognizes Mission Partners from all disciplines outside of nursing for their expertise and extraordinary care to those we serve. Aundra is so deserving of this special recognition,” said Lori Christiansen, vice president of Support Services.
Recipients for the Sunflower Award are nominated by patients, the families of patients or employees throughout the year. A committee at OSF Saint Luke selects one recipient annually. The Sunflower Award winner receives an award pin, certificate, sculpture, embroidered tote bag, bouquet of sunflowers and a banner displayed in their department for the year.
