OSF Wound Care, the outpatient wound center of OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center, recently received the Center of Distinction award from Healogics®, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services.
This marks the fifth year in a row that OSF Wound Care achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92%, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92% within 28 median days to heal.
Serving the community since 2008, OSF Wound Care is a member of Healogics—a network of over 600 Wound Care Centers® that provides access to benchmarking data and proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds. OSF Wound Care offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds that have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Leading-edge treatments at the center include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100% oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
“Some wounds won’t heal on their own for a variety of underlying reasons,” said Leslie Edgcomb, MD, medical director of OSF Wound Care in Rockford. “When that happens, scheduling an appointment at OSF Wound Care is vital. Our physician and nurse team is specifically trained to care for patients with difficult-to-heal wounds.”
