The Boards of Directors for Perry Memorial Hospital and OSF HealthCare, along with the Princeton City Council have adopted an affiliation agreement that will allow for a transfer of ownership of Perry Memorial Hospital from the City of Princeton to OSF HealthCare.
“The mission of Perry Memorial Hospital is to provide compassionate quality health care for the communities and families we serve,” said Linda Gustafson, chairperson of the Perry Memorial Hospital Board. “We have a long history of collaboration with OSF based upon these values we share.”
“Our longstanding relationship with Perry Memorial Hospital, which spans nearly 50 years, has been successful because of our deep mutual respect and shared commitment to residents of Bureau, Putnam, and Marshall Counties,” said Bob Sehring, CEO of OSF HealthCare. “We are pleased to be taking this next step in our journey together to serve these communities with the greatest care and love.”
OSF HealthCare is an integrated health system with nearly 24,000 Mission Partners (employees). Its physician network employees more than 1,500 primary care, specialist physicians, and advanced practice providers.
“Over many years, we have worked hard to be able to provide new access to medical expertise and subspecialties across rural communities, and today we continue to develop new ways of reaching those we serve,” said Roxanna Crosser, OSF HealthCare western region CEO. “Our innovative approach to health care helps patients avoid traveling long distances for the care they need. We can’t wait to fully welcome Perry Memorial into our OSF family.”
Perry Memorial had conducted a two-year intensive study of the most effective way to ensure that the City of Princeton and its surrounding communities would have local access to quality health care well into the future. A variety of partnership options were considered.
“After all of our due diligence, affiliating with OSF was determined to be the best option for Princeton, the surrounding communities and all of the people who deserve quality health care close to home,” said Gustafson. “We look forward to working with OSF to meet these health care needs locally for many years to come.”
The integration is expected to occur sometime this summer. Over the next few months, the organizations will seek the necessary regulatory and canonical approvals while continuing work on planning strategies to meet the needs of residents of Bureau, Putnam, and Marshall Counties.
