OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group has awarded three honorees for the Grateful Patient program. The program includes the international DAISY Award that recognizes the skillful and compassionate care provided by nurses, the Sunflower Award, which recognizes non-nursing staff for being outstanding role models among a community of caregivers, and the honor a caregiver award, which recognizes physicians and advanced practice providers who demonstrate excellence, compassion and extraordinary care.
This quarter’s awards were given to Emily Noblet, RN (DAISY Award), Lisa Bartel, dietary staff, (Sunflower Award), and Holly Johnson, NP (Honor a Caregiver Award).
Emily Noblet, RN, is an administrative supervisor in the hospital. She was one of 49 Daisy nominees this quarter and was recognized for going above and beyond for a patient from out-of-town who required multiple visits to OSF. The patient experienced a medical situation while traveling and upon return to their hometown, they were unable to receive treatment at their local health care facility. After many calls to various facilities, they were happy they were able to make arrangements to receive multiple treatments at OSF. Emily went above and beyond to ensure that the patient’s last treatment could be completed before the patient was scheduled to be out of town again. “After so many road blocks, we were grateful we checked with OSF. We would like to especially recognize Emily for going above and beyond to be helpful.”
Lisa works in the dietary department and was among 23 nominees for the Sunflower Award and was recognized for her way of making patients feel welcome and cared for. “Lisa called us each meal time to let us know the kitchen was open or closing. She made us feel very welcome and part of the OSF family with each meal order.”
Holly Johnson is a Nurse Practitioner at OSF Women’s Health and one of 12 nominees for the Honor a Caregiver Award. The nominating patient had words of gratitude to share, “In the darkest hours of my life they were there for me helping me through my experience and giving me the knowledge to make it through. In each visit they sat with me while I cried, facing the hardest news I have ever received and in their eyes I could tell they truly cared. They weren’t just walking into a room doing their job and leaving. I will never forget the care and love they showed to me in those dark hours.”
Additionally, the anesthesia team was recognized for multiple nominations in which patients noted being grateful for a sense of calmness and compassion displayed by their team.
Award ceremonies were held to celebrate with each of the honorees, their co-workers, managers and administrative team.
“The work of our employees goes beyond providing health care to patients. They’re often providing comfort, compassion, and a listening ear. I see it each and every day and am proud to see the Sister’s Mission in action. The nominations from patients act as a great reminder that staff from all departments and roles are making a positive impact on those we serve,” said Dave Lord, President of OSF St. Francis Hospital.
