New Security and Safety System at Perry

2/07/2020 - Princeton, Illinois

  • New Security and Safety System

Effective February 10, 2020 Perry Memorial Hospital is implementing a new access and security control system for the entire hospital.  The purpose of this new system is to ensure that Perry Memorial Hospital remains a safe place for patients to receive services, employees to work, and families and visitors to provide support for their loved ones.  As with any new system, changes will be taking place for our employees and visitors as well.

New security measures that will be experienced by our visitors will include all entry doors locked from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. The patio door on the east side will no longer be a visitor entry point.  The Medical Office Building doors will be locked on weekends and no access will be available.

Annette Schnabel, CEO/President shared, “Locking down the facility is designed to protect our patients and overnight staff at the hospital.”  After-hour visitors will enter through the registration/emergency room entrance and call the operator for entrance using the lobby phone. Patient visitors will be escorted by hospital personnel to a patient room; Perry’s current policy is to allow only two visitors in a patient’s room at any given time.  Emergency room visitors will be shown to waiting room with those required to give support to their loved one being escorted to the treatment room as needed.

One of Perry’s highest priorities is safety and this new security system offers an extra level of safety for our staff, patients, and visitors. As we become familiar with this system, we ask for your patience and understanding.
