OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center Laboratory was selected as the first place winner of the 2020 Fellowship of the Lab Photo Contest sponsored by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the accrediting body for laboratorians.
Medical Laboratory Professionals Week, April 19-25, 2020, is an annual celebration the last full week in April to celebrate and raise awareness of the important work in health care done by laboratory professionals and pathologists. ASCP hosted the 2020 Fellowship of the Lab Photo and Video Contest to celebrate Lab Week. The contest was designed to honor medical laboratory professionals as a vital part of the health care community with a video or photo that would then be chosen by ASCP as educational, informational, fun, and promoted the laboratory. The winners will receive prizes to celebrate Lab Week.
To celebrate Lab Week at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center, the Laboratory Mission Partners enrolled and earned certification in “Operational Planning Guidelines and COVID-19 Partners Platform to Support Country Preparedness and Response”, a World Health Organization course on responding to COVID-19. Special thanks to Keith Butalid, Clinical Lab Scientist, for coordinating the effort, gathering photos, and creating and submitting the photo collage poster to highlight the team’s accomplishment for the ASCP 2020 Fellowship of the Lab Contest.
