As a partner in the international DAISY Award program that recognizes the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care of nurses, OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center recently awarded its DAISY Award to Martha Miller.
Martha, a registered nurse who works in Same-Day Surgery and was nominated by a patient’s family member. “We truly appreciate the compassionate care that RNs perform every day and the DAISY Award is one way to recognize these dedicated individuals,” said Heather Bomstad, Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer for OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center.
In one of the comments received about Martha, was that she went above & beyond her nursing duties. Miller’s nomination reads, “A true caregiver, she made our family comfortable in an uncomfortable situation.” The DAISY Award program can be found in over 2,000 healthcare facilities in all 50 states and 14 other countries.
The Sunflower Award, a recognition program offered to non-nursing staff with OSF HealthCare, was given to Kathy Buddell, Physical Therapist with the hospital’s Rehabilitation Services department.
Buddell’s nomination reads, “Kathy Buddell is an amazing therapist. She has extensive training and background, and she works hard to use it all to help patients. I have a unique situation, and she goes above and beyond to research and figures out things to try. She is always positive and professional. She gives me hope and support. More than all of these strengths, Kathy is caring and kind beyond measure. She is an exceptional person providing exceptional care”.
