(Kewanee, IL | May 31, 2019) – OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center is pleased to recognize the 2019 Sunflower Award Winner, Jessica Cinnamon of Kewanee. Jessica is a medical office assistant at OSF Medical Group - Kewanee. While caring for a pediatric patient, Jessica demonstrated awareness, critical thinking and quick action to allow for immediate medical intervention.
“The Sunflower Award recognizes care team members outside of nursing for the extraordinary care they provide to those we serve, and Jessica is definitely deserving,” said Melissa Shipp, director of Support Services. “She was helping a 5-week-old baby when she noticed there was something wrong. Her awareness led to the baby being rushed to the ER and then transferred to [OSF HealthCare] Saint Francis [Medical Center] for advanced care.” Recipients for the Sunflower Award are nominated by patients, the families of patients or employees throughout the past year. From the nominations, a committee from the Professional Practice Council at OSF HealthCare Saint Luke selects one recipient annually.
“Jessica is a true professional who lives the Sisters’ Mission of serving with the greatest care and love,” Shipp said.
The Sunflower Award winner receives an award pin, certificate, sunflower angel sculpture, embroidered tote bag, bouquet of sunflowers and a banner displayed in their department for the year.
