(July 16, 2019 | Kewanee, IL) – A national health care publication is recognizing OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center President Jackie Kernan, MSN, RN as one of the “70 Critical Access Hospital CEOs to Know – 2019.” The Becker’s Hospital Review list of 70 hospital leaders represent presidents and CEOs who regularly lead efforts in patient safety and quality healthcare.
According to the publication, these individuals hold an important role within their community, serving on corporate boards and state-level initiatives to improve access to care. Several have overseen hospital expansions, mergers and electronic health record implementations, as well as the construction of satellite clinics and strategic partnerships with local healthcare organizations.
“This recognition by such a respected health care industry publication is a real honor,” said Jackie Kernan, President of OSF HealthCare Saint Luke. She added, “It’s a testament to the hard work of every Mission Partner who contributes to serving with the greatest care and love as we put patients first and raise the bar on performance each year.”
Kernan was named president of OSF HealthCare Saint Luke in January 2018. She is responsible for internal operations and providing affordable, quality care and has experience with healthcare strategy. She also served as Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer at OSF HealthCare Saint Luke and director of inpatient and surgical services before becoming president. Kernan’s leadership strengths have also been recognized within OSF HealthCare. She was recently named to succeed Luker to lead both OSF Saint Luke and Holy Family Medical Center, dividing her time between both facilities.
Three other OSF HealthCare Critical Access Hospital leaders made the Becker’s list including Dave Lord, president of OSF HealthCare St. Francis in Escanaba, Michigan, Dawn Trompeter of OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center in Mendota and Patty Luker of OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.
