OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center and the Warren County YMCA have partnered on a new women’s wellness program, Be WELL – Women Enjoying Living and Learning. Be WELL | Live Healthy. Live Happy. is a year-long, weekly program that addresses all aspects of women’s health.
The program kicks off on Thursday, February 21 and meetings and activities will be held weekly on Thursdays from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the Warren County YMCA, 700 W. Harlem Avenue, Monmouth, Illinois. The cost is $15 a month.
Participants will have fun learning evidence-based approaches to healthy food choices, physical activity and disease prevention. Experts will offer information about the latest approaches for staying well through fun activities including cooking demonstrations as well as dance, stretching, martial arts instruction, plus relaxation and stress management tips and techniques.
Non-YMCA members will have access to the YMCA fitness facilities on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and for an additional cost, the YMCA is offering babysitting services.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Warren County YMCA on Be WELL,” said Patty Luker, OSF Holy Family Medical Center President. “Community partnerships are an important part of improving the overall health and wellness of our community members. Research tells us lifestyle behaviors are a major factor in at least 80 percent of chronic disease.” Luker added an important component of Be WELL is using curriculum that has proven outcomes. “We are pleased to be certified to use educational materials from the Centers for Disease Control Lifestyle Change Program for Diabetes Prevention which we know helps people transform their lives by creating quality life-long habits.”
“Group coaching can be a game changer because individuals find comfort in sharing struggles and encouraging others as part of a commitment to making positive changes,” said Sam Brooks, Warren County YMCA Executive Director. “We are excited to collaborate with OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center to offer this unique approach that’ll include rolling enrollment so community members can join as they learn about the program and are ready to commit.”
